Seminar and meeting on the 28th April

April 29th, 2007

Today we had a blessed time learning about how to minister to a buddhist culture when we get to Chiangmai.

Thereafter, we had a time of meeting where Joscelyn came in to talk to us about the designs for the T-shirt! Yes, the team is getting a polo-shirt. We pray that it wouldn’t cost us too much.

Please pray for us :

  • as we prepare our personal testimonies and plan to get them translated into Thai.
  • for accomodations that as yet have not been settled as Allvina would be there for a week and thereafter Gwyneth would need to have a safe place for the remainder 3 weeks. We’ve long prayed for God to give another girl to come, but it seems that it is not to be. Pray that we’ll be able to find suitable accomodations that would be easy for us to be near the students and also for the team to meet for devotion, worship, prayer and daily debriefs.
  • the 1-2nd June retreat for the team. To secure a good venue as well as speakers for the retreat and that God will use this to bring greater harmony, peace and oneness of heart, mind and spirit for the mission ahead. Currently, no venue, no speakers.
  • commitment and resolve and faithfulness to our Lord Jesus Christ
  • Eugene, time management, discipline and wisdom to fulfill an important task of assistant leader even while this is the 1st time for many of us.
  • Nelson, as he is studying for exams coming up on the 2nd and 4th of May.
  • Gwyneth and Allvina, that work responsibilities will be smoothly transfered for before the trip as well as being able to carry out the various responsibilities despite of their heavy work loads.
  • Pray for more brothers and sisters in Christ who would partner the team in this mission to do the greater work of unceasing prayer to our Lord.
  • Pray for the team as we seek God’s providence in finances to go.

Support Raising and Team Newsletter

April 24th, 2007

Thanks for your constant prayers. The team has finally churned out the Team Newsletter for people who would support us in our work for our God this June-July.

This newsletter contains more information to inform you how you can be involved in missions! Yes, you can be involved in the Great Commission too, even if you cannot be physically with us in Chiangmai! Do check it out and keep the team in prayer as we’ve begun in preparing and asking God to prepare us spiritually, we’ve now reached the stage where we will also have to look to God for financial support. We know it is a small feat for our God, but a big step of faith for us.

Keep praying for Chiangmai and the team.

Team Meeting and Seminar 21st April

April 24th, 2007

The team met on the 21st of June. We discussed on on “team rules” such as punctuality and being vocal about our opinions instead of keeping it to ourselves(especially, important to avoid misunderstandings).

Amongst the other things discussed. We agreed on the team verse from Romans 15:5-6

May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are preparing our personal testimonies for next week as well.

The seminar was on how to effectively use the 4 Spiritual Laws and we had a time of role-play after gaining some insight on the structure of it. This session was to help benefit us in effectively presenting the gospel message in its entirety and with boldness and clarity rather then the usual manner of jumping all over the place, confusing the non-believer and often times ourselves, leaving us unsure if we’ve really presented the good news in a manner that is complete and understandable.

A day of prayer – Good Friday

April 5th, 2007

Today we begin our day of prayer. We’ve been meeting for the past 3 months and now that we are a team, we have decided that there is a need to seek God for this mission trip and the church.

  1. We understand that we are wholly inadequate for the task and the journey ahead of us. We want God’s wisdom, direction and will for us.
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. Pro 3:5-7
  2. We desire to dwell in the presence of God.
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. Psa 27:4
  3. We desire that God will establish the work of our hands.
Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. Psa 127:1

Pray that the Lord will honour our hearts.
